Health Care is available from the practice Monday to Friday, but through an organisation called Hantsdoc, we provide healthcare 365 days a year, 24 hours a day.  If you require to see a doctor and the practice is closed, contact Hantsdoc

Family Planning and Cervical Smears

Please book via the receptionist, with the doctor or the nurse for either of these services. You need to ensure that you are midway through your cycle at the time of your smear.


Maternity Care

Once pregnancy is confirmed, you should make an initial booking appointment with your midwife.

Your midwife will offer advice and runs clinics for antenatal monitoring.

Deliveries are at The North Hampshire Hospital. It is important to have a postnatal check 6 weeks after the birth.

District Nurses

District Nurses visit those who are housebound through illness or disability. They can advise relatives and friends about caring for the elderly or infirm. There are no District Nurses directly employed at the practice.


Health Visitors

The Health Visitors are involved in promoting health for all the family, within the community. A Child Health Clinic is held weekly at Carnival Hall, Basingstoke. If you have any concerns regarding the health and well-being of your family.  There are no health visitors at the practice.


Practice Nurses

The Practice Nurses run clinics for diabetes, heart disease, asthma monitoring, weight checks, smears, blood pressure checks, flu clinics, travel advice and injections (Please allow 8 weeks before traveling to attend your first appointment), baby vaccinations, blood tests, contraception, dressings and various other treatments. Please let reception know what you are seeing the Practice Nurse for, so they can ensure that they allocate you enough time for your care to be carried out.


Phlebotomist

Blood samples arranged by your doctor can be taken by our experienced phlebotomist between 8.30am and midday.


Sick Certificates

You do not need a sick certificate for illnesses lasting seven days or less. You may need to fill in a self-certification form, obtainable from your employer, when you return to work. The self-employed may need to complete a SC2 from the Social Security office.

For illnesses leading to absence from work for over 7 days, you will need to see your doctor for a certificate. If you require further information please telephone the surgery.
